The driving strategy for the new retail environment (featured in 5 flagships and 180 remodels) was to showcase the interaction of multiple electronic devices. Reorganizing the selling floor into learning and demonstration categories versus product categories allowed the Gateway merchandising team to better feature the product integration and technology. The store's central core revolves around a living room area where Gateway associates can demonstrate how their products work in a real-life context. It reinforces product compatibility, encourages customer and sales associate discussion, and makes the customer feel welcome and relaxed.
